We were delighted to win a major commission in 2013 to design two new buildings for Petroc at their Barnstaple campus. The project involves two elements: the first being the demolition of a 1950’s building which currently houses heavy engineering machinery. This is long past its sell by date and will be replaced with a new Lifestyle Building which will be the new home of leisure and tourism services.
Petroc – Lifestyle Building
As Architects with experience of and a keen interest in educational buildings, we are committed to creating spaces that inspire and encourage students. As well as the physical appearance, that desire includes the way building perform. Many of the existing buildings on the site date from the 1950’s and 1960’s when energy conservation was not an important consideration in construction. These days however it is top of the agenda, so this project will help reduce Petroc’s energy demand and maintenance costs.
Our concept design was taken on after planning by LHC Architects who worked with ISG as part of the Design & Build contract for the project.
