The Ark featured in ‘Homebuilding & Renovating’
“We have real passion for our clients’ projects; all of them. We invest ourselves fully and love to see the fruits of everyone’s efforts and the realisation of our clients dream, non-more so than with The Ark Ashford Near Barnstaple North Devon for our clients David & Penny Clapp” said Perry Mears of Peregrine Mears Architects Barnstaple. David & Penny valued the convenience of a Barnstaple architect able to maintain service and support, as required.
“It is particularly heart-warming when someone who is totally independent recognises what has been achieved and therefore we are delighted that The Ark is featured in the latest edition of Homebuilding & Renovating magazine and website, which is Britain’s best-selling self-build magazine, for those renovating, extending, converting or building their own home, so they know a thing or two about property!”
Realising the self-build dream.
David & Penny already owned a plot, but their dreams were being frustrated by years of planning issues. We relished the challenge when they came to us for a fresh approach; it’s what we do!” Of course there were challenges. It took time; our team needed to draw on our varied skills, expertise and experience but without a doubt the results justify the efforts. The inspiration was purely something David remembered from his childhood, a barn but it hadn’t existed for some years. This new eco self-build reflects the old with the best of modern design and standards. The detail gives it an edge. We knew the site and location merited something deserving. Our concept was a traditional Devon longhouse with a twist; designed as two linked boxed style constructions designed around the clients’ flexible living needs.
