Dave King and Rob Dubery of IQ recently visited our Barnstaple design studio to give our design team an insight of the latest developments. Minimal frames are an increasingly popular feature; understandable they look fabulous. It’s more than aesthetics, designs need to be deliverable, compliant to standards in performance and safety. They gave clarification on changes to Building Regulations. Under Part L buildings will need to achieve significantly improved high insulation, in order to achieve the overall target Fabric Energy Efficiency Rate, through these more strict performance values.
Part O now requires that rooms need to be evaluated in isolation in regards to overheating and adequate means of cooling must be included to maintain the optimum temperature for a healthy living environment. Glazing is key, especially when forming the major material in the design.
