Peregrine Mears Architects started working with the owners of Waterside Cornwall early in 2017. The practice has been working with the client and consultant team to develop proposals for the site to create a sustainable holiday resort in the heart of Cornwall. Consultations have been held with planners, current building users and staff and the local community to ensure proposals are well received.
Waterside, Bodmin
The proposals include over 100 new lodges set into the landscape, with each group of lodges adopting different characters depending on the setting, such as lakeside, tree top and village green.
The existing main building is to be extended and refurbished to improve the dining opportunities available on site. New leisure activities will be provided in two new buildings, nestled in the lowest part of the site adjacent to the existing main building and lakes, creating a central plaza focussed over the lakes. The new buildings accommodate a 25m swimming pool, leisure pools with slides, gym, studio, multi-function sports hall/function space and climbing barn.
In a secluded spot between the two main lakes, an existing house will be converted and extended to create a new hotel and spa.
With the site located in the countryside to the west of Bodmin, landscape and ecology have been an integral part of the design development for the site.
We are excited to be involved with this project and look forward to seeing the plans come to fruition over the coming years.
